    In the National Park Service commissioned noted photographer Ansel Adams to create a photo mural for the Department of the Interior Building in Washington, DC. The theme was to be nature as exemplified and protected in the U.S. National Parks. The project was halted because of World War II and never resumed. Ansel and Virginia Adams write Michael and Anne in Yosemite children's book depicts their two young children. The text is written by Virginia, with Ansel contributing the photographs. The book is quite successful, despite Adams's complaints about the poor quality of the reproductions.   Ansel Adams was a nature photographer best known for his black and white prints of the American West. Relatedly, he published several essays and instructional books on photography. In addition to promoting photography as a fine art, Adams became an environmental activist for protecting the wilderness, and his images became symbols of wild America.
